Can i get a step by step on how to do this?

So far for me it’s been something like:

1. Become aware of how and when you tearing yourself down.

2. Now that you can catch yourself doing it. Offer counters to the negative self talk. A really useful thing I read was to talk to yourself almost the way you would child. Gentle and patient. Even when they fuck up.

3. Take time to celebrate your small accomplishments. You’ve been attacking yourself for every little mistake. Apply that same fervor to the positive things in your life. Did the dishes even though you didn’t want to? Fuck yeah! Got up and took shower? YES!!! You are taking positive steps to feeling better. Celebrate it.

4. Make lists of things you’re good at/ like about yourself. The first time I did this the only two things in my list we’re that I liked my hair and I had good friends. It was start.

5. Don’t beat yourself up if you screw up steps 1-4. It’s counter productive. When I catch myself calling my self stupid for some mistake or other my response now is,“We don’t talk to ourselves like that anymore. What’s something constructive that could actually help solve the problem.”

Most of the time that seems to work. Not always. But more and more Everytime.

I hope any of that made sense.

A few more I’ve learned:

  1. When someone compliments you, don’t deflect.
Make a conscious effort to form a habit of saying, “Thanks, I like it
too!” “Thanks, I’m really proud I finished it!” “Thanks, I worked hard
on it!” “Thanks, I take after my favourite auntie!” etc or even just “Thank you.” Stop using every compliment as an excuse to beat yourself up.

  2. Acknowledge that other people see
value in things you do and are even when those things aren’t 100%
perfect. Try to remember those compliments later and add them to your
mental idea of yourself. Notice that you don’t demand perfection from
others before you’ll like them and try to appreciate yourself the same way.

  3. Also, stop sorrying.
It can be a hard habit to break, but reflexively saying “sorry” every
time you talk or take up space (socially or otherwise) is both a
reflection of and a reinforcement of your own perceived lack of value.
Every time you find yourself sorrying inappropriately, make a point of
thinking, “Actually, I do deserve to talk/be here/(other thing you sorried about).” When appropriate, say it out loud sometimes!

  4. Honestly even if you don’t believe yourself quite yet when you say nice things or stop yourself from saying mean things  about yourself – the things you say and repeat in your mind really do impact what you think and how you feel. You have to try to say/think the good things you don’t quite believe, that’s what makes it become possible to eventually believe them.
  5. Try to set aside some time to do things you feel good about doing, like
volunteer work, learning a skill, or projects where you make or fix
something just for fun. If you are having a hard time trying to figure
out what about yourself you can be proud of, you can just pick something
you would be proud of doing and start doing it.

“We don’t talk to ourselves like that anymore. What’s something constructive that could actually help solve the problem.”

So I did an egg hunt at my place of work this morning. I don’t mean like I hid a couple dozen eggs and people rolled their eyes like “hey isn’t this a bit childish?”

I mean I got an entire staff of some 30 surgery, kennel, vet techs and receptionists to go absolutely wild running around our facility looking for 200+ colorful plastic eggs full of chocolate and sour patch bunnies and one golden egg with $10 in it

Like one person riding on another person’s shoulders to look on top of the high stacked kennels and using leashes as lassos

There was screaming and wild giggling and I’ve never seen so many grown ass women grinning and running around like kids in my life it was the greatest.

Apparently I am now the morale officer of my workplace but my boss (who somehow wound up covered in glitter at the end of the day despite literally none of the eggs having glitter on them) now knows me as

The Harbinger of Chaos

that sounds FANTASTIC

Why lush is so expensive

vampire-crimson:

whatsanapocalae:

neopets-slut:

Please remember that Lush is a fair trade company. This means that all they pay ALL of their workers a livable amount, and don’t take advantage of workers and harvesters in third world countries like many brands do. They test none of their products on animals as well.

Please keep these things in mind! Just know there is a reason that they cannot sell their bath bombs for 99 cents each. Doing so would mean that hard workers are being under paid.

other reasons it’s expensive:

  • constant checks on their resources – They will drop any company that they are partnered with if they learn that they are gathering ingredients in an inhumane way, harming the environment, or puts their people at risk
  • charity work – if you’ve ever heard of Charity Pot, it’s called such because 100% of the cost (not proceeds) go to charity. It’s not what’s left over after they’ve paid the workers or bought the ingredients, it’s every single cent.
  • kitchens instead of factories – They dont have a big warehouse of stock. They don’t have processing plants. What they have are buildings with industrial kitchen equipment, where all products are made by hand.
  • fighting animal testing – a lot of companies say that they dont do animal testing, but they don’t do anything to prevent animal testing and may use ingredients sourced from animal testing. Lush leads protests, creates bills, and spreads information, as well as only work with those who don’t use animal testing, in order to fight the system
  • helping their sources- If they find out that something is wrong with one of their companies, they’ll do what they can to fix it. That means, if something is broken, they will fix it, even though it’s just someone that they’re partnered with.
  • delicate products – everything they sell has an expiration date, because it’s all made out of fresh ingredients and they use as little preservatives and unnatural things as they can. That and bathbombs break, all the time. They can’t sell it if it has any damage larger than a dime.

this is… actually really nice information to know? im too broke to be able to afford their products, so the only access to any info about them i have is either word of mouth or if i were to actually look up information about them.

i always assumed it was some status symbol thing like apple but im always happy to learn that things arent like that!
