Accept Fire and Blood, the first book in my intended series Wildlands, took me just over a year of solid writing to complete the first draft. The story still has a long way to go before I’m ready to submit query letters to agents, editors, or publishers, but I’m hoping to have that finished sometime soon. Here’s a little bit about the story:
Ryn was a special consultant for the government in the distant future until bitten by a kanima, one of the most powerful of the supernatural creatures. Unable to work and concerned for her future, Ryn escaped the confines of the Six Cities and transformed for the first time amidst the rubble of her crashed AVec. Pursued by the government, cold-creating demons, and a human serial killer with magical abilities, Ryn must choose who to trust when everyone wants her new power at the cost of her life.
The initial draft is currently 77,027 words, but I suspect the revision process will lengthen that a great deal. There are a lot of things I need to fix, but I continue to look forward to the revision process.
