Day 2: Create a character. Write a brief scene of them in a setting. Also use this paragraph to introduce the character to the reader by how they react to their setting.
Metal struck metal and Lemira’s arm tingled. Kalmesh forced her through the same redundant drills. Block. Shift. Swing. Block. Shift. Swing. With every block and swing, the sword’s impact sent jolts of pain from her shoulder to her fingertips and threatened her tenuous grip on her father’s old practice sword. The other two girls in the training ring dropped their swords within the first round of drill and the boys all snickered. Sneers of “that’s what you get for letting girls pretend to be boys” and “girls are only strong enough to lift brooms, not swords” echoed across the walls of the ring. Lemira noticed the girls blush in shame and move to the shadows from the castle wall. She refused to be like them. If the boys could keep drilling and not drop their swords, then so could she.
