January in Review

So just like every other year, I posted a list of goals that I would like to achieve through the new year. I never call them resolutions because resolutions make it sound like I only care about making progress on these things when a new year comes around and that I forget about them the rest of the year. This year is a bit different for me for a variety of reasons, but I figured it would be good for me to post the progress that I’ve made so far with my goals for 2014.

The first of my 2014 goals was to read one book per week and write a review for it. I have accomplished this goal for the entire month of January. I read seven books and wrote reviews on all of them. I am reading more than I thought I would be able to and I’m really enjoying my time catching back up with my imagination.

The second of my 2014 goals was to write one movie review per week, and I did exactly that, though I only watched five different things.

My third 2014 goal was to listen to one entire album per week and organize the music correctly. I listened to and organized 441 songs. I’d say that easily makes a positive dent in my 2014 music goals.

The sixth goal on my list was to draw and color at least one full size pattern. I intended that to be a goal for the entire year, but it appears as though I am already half complete on this goal. I had this great new idea for a pattern for a buddy of mine and have already finished the outline. I’m not too sure on the color scheme yet, but I’m pretty sure if I keep making the kind of progress I’ve already been making that I won’t have any problems getting this done before the end of 2014.

My seventh goal is a bit more ambitious. I want to be able to run two miles in under 16 minutes. Considering I just started walking without crutches this past Monday, I’d say I still have a long ways to go in order to meet that goal. Or, I could say that I am already learning how to walk and it’s progressing very nicely, therefore, running in the future should be totally doable 🙂

The last of the goals I made progress on was to attend one cultural event or location per month. In January, I went out to San Diego. It was a quieter adventure, but still a good one.

There are ten items on my 2014 goal list, and I have already fully accomplished four of my goals and two others are long-term projects that I have made significant progress on. Overall, I’d say 2014 is so far a win 🙂
