TIL Iran has the highest female to male ratio in universities among all sovereign nations. More than 70% of students in engineering and pure sciences are women.

iteresting tid bit I learned thanks to my family in Iran: so many people there still have a fairly traditional view on gender roles, believing that the husband should be more educated then the wife. dispite this, women just seem to be more ambitious while doing things based on their own life plans, compared to men doing the same. because of all this, Iran’s government has literally limited the number women allowed to pass their standardized college entrence exams. otherwise, women would not be able to find a man more educated then them, men wouldn’t be able to find a woman less educated then them, and they would not be willing to marry anyone because of it.
